The Gift

Look at this gift! Brought back all the way from Last Board prefecture in Japan. Thanks so much Jaquio!

It's a Famicom - Family Computer; travel edition, or Japanese Nintendo.

Does it work? It's a work of art.

I don't have the proper J-volts and RF switcheroo's to plug it in yet. But even if hot human breath can't J-start it, it's a tremendously generous gift. After all these years, dreaming of that archipalego, of fighting its ninjas and playing its consoles, to have a real life Famicom apparate before me, well fuck...

In America, it goes by its Japanese Name, with all-american acronym included - the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES; like a military software or something. In Japan however, it goes by an American name - the Family Computer, or Famicom.

And the word "Nintendo"; what the hell is that? Well, it translates to something like "Work really really hard, but at the end of the day, it's in Heaven's Hands."

Though they were originally a trading card company - yakuza-preferred - Nintendo mated their System with AI in the late 80's to create the most powerful game console on Earth - a universal translator capable of emulating all other consoles as well as arcade coin-ops. It could play any game on any system - Sega, NEOGEO, 3DO, you name it. It could also monitor global stock markets in real time and keep tabs on available natural resources, as well as home users themselves. Each console comes equipped with a "back-door" that is capable of recieving signals, as well as sending them back to the Last Board prefecture in Japan.

Here are some dots...

.President "Mother Brain" Yamauchi of Nintendo Inc. was "sepukku'ed" in 199X.

.Mister Miyamoto and Koji Kondo will perform fusion to replace him.

.SONY merged with PONY canyon on the 60th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

.Street Fighter 3, like World War III, hasn't come out yet.
